After weeks of searching for a new defensive coordinator, the Jaguars have decided to promote from within. There are several lines of thought as to why the Jaguars took so long to decide to promote former defensive line coach, Todd Wash. After interviewing several defensive coordinator candidates including the well respected Jim Schwartz, the Jaguars promoted Wash, who has no prior NFL experience as a defensive coordinator.
So why exactly did it take so long for the Jaguars to make this decision? Did the organization feel that they would promote Wash the whole time, but also felt the need to do their due diligence? Did the Jaguars offer the job to anyone else and get turned down? Were the Jaguars unimpressed by any of the other potential candidates? The answer isn't exactly clear and the decision was probably influenced by a combination of factors. So what do YOU think? What is clear is that Wash is the new defensive signal caller and is going to bring his physical and aggressive nature to not only the defensive line, but now the entire Jaguars defense. |
