The Jaguars have parted ways with former starting cornerback Davon House. They now appear poised to pursue and land a big money free agent cornerback.

By Jordan de Lugo

According to Mike DiRocco of ESPN the Jaguars have cut Davon House.

House signed with Jacksonville in 2015 as an unrestricted free agent as apart of what was believed to be a strong free agent class. Well, that once "strong" class is now looking like one of the worst in franchise history. House becomes the third high price free agent from that class to be dealt by the Jaguars. Jared Odrick was released, Julius Thomas is set to be traded to the Dolphins at the start of the league year, and now House will join Odrick on the free agent market.

The rise and fall of Davon House has been well documented around these parts. In 2015 House started for the Jaguars and set a franchise record with 23 passes defended and added four interceptions. Despite the signing of Prince Amukamara by the Jaguars in 2016, House still entered last season as the Jaguars starting cornerback opposite Jalen Ramsey, however just four games into the season House was benched for some poor play and rarely saw the field again. House was clearly upset with the move and had every right to be, but the bottom line is he wasn't playing well enough to stay on the field.

Fast forward to this offseason and most assumed House would be cut or traded. The Jaguars couldn't find a trade partner so now House is on the street, but he'll find a job somewhere, even if it is as a backup. House was scheduled to cost the Jaguars $6 million in cap space this season.

Now the Jaguars have over $75 million in cap space and are poised to sign a big money free agency cornerback.

All signs point to A.J. Bouye, the fourth year cornerback who spent the first portion of his career in Houston playing for the Jaguars arch rival the Texans. Bouye is an ascending player that combined with Jalen Ramsey would create one of the most dominant cornerback groups in football. If Bouye doesn't pan out there are several other worthy options on the market including Stephon Gilmore, the Jaguars own Prince Amukamara, and Super Bowl Champion Logan Ryan.
