Per Ryan O'Halloran, the Jaguars are set to resign WR Arrelious Benn to a one year deal with a team option for a second year.

Benn is far from a big contributor as a receiving threat, although he did provide an athletic game winning 51 yard TD reception (his first TD since 2011) for the Jaguars against the Bears in Week 4 of the 2016, but Benn contributes in many other ways.

In 2016 he was one the Jaguars best special teams players, especially on kick coverage - a trait that newly hired Special Teams Coordinator Joe DeCamillis will certainly enjoy. The Jaguars special teams haven't been great in recent years, but none of that blame is shouldered by Benn who gives maximum effort every time he steps on the field.

According to former Jaguars and Bears punt Adam Podlesh Benn was the most successful special teams player for the Jaguars in 2016.

Out of all Jags with over 100 gradable plays on special teams, I graded @ArreliousBenn as having the highest success rate for 2016 https://t.co/5U4LWuH7NY

Benn also provides value as a blocker on the outside or in the slot. At 6'2'' and 230 lbs. he excels at blocking smaller defensive backs whether it be in running situations or blocking for a fellow receiver.

Benn isn't going to put up big numbers but he brings versatility and a winning attitude. He'll likely be the Jaguars 5th or 6th WR in 2016.

This is a good, incredibly low risk signing by the Jaguars, who also just signed another important piece in Abry Jones.
