The Jaguars, who already had four Pro Bowlers on the defensive side of the ball, added two more to that tally on Monday. Yannick Ngakoue has been selected to take the place of his teammate Calais Campbell, who will not play in the Pro Bowl due to injury. Telvin Smith has been selected to take the place of Jadeveon Clowney, who plays for the division rival Texans.
Ngakoue was one of the most underrated players in the NFL this season and should have been named a Pro Bowler to begin with. He finished the regular season with 12 sacks, tied for the third most in the AFC. His six forced fumbles led the entire NFL. Telvin Smith, who also should have made it in without having to be named an alternate, finished the regular season with 102 total tackles, many of which were very meaningful. His two defensive touchdowns in the regular season left him tied for the league lead. Both players are expected to play in the Pro Bowl this Sunday at 3pm in Orlando, FL. Stay tuned for more.
