The Jaguars hit the practice field Sunday morning for the first time since Friday night when the team held the annual Family Fun Night practice. All went well for the most part during the Jaguars first appearance on the grass at EverBank Field on Friday. QB Blake Bortles played well and the team escaped with out any major injuries.
The team made a couple of roster moves Sunday morning. The Jaguars have removed rookie FB Marquez Williams from the PUP list after passing a physical. He's now able to practice fully with the team. He's in a competition with veteran Tommy Bohanan for the lone full back spot on the roster. The Jaguars also parted ways with former fourth round pick James Sample. Sample was drafted by the Jaguars in 2015 out of Louisville. Coming in Sample had somewhat high expectations from the fan base, but his inability to stay healthy ultimately lead to his demise. He never stayed healthy long enough to find his groove in the NFL. The Jaguars released Sample in order to make room for safety Jeron Johnson. Johnson is already wearing Sample's number 23 and is practicing with the team today. The 29 year old safety has spent time with the Redskins, Chiefs and the Seahawks and has appeared in 64 games in the NFL. Do you think Marquez Williams will win the fullback job? Excited to see a new addition to the secondary? Sad to see Sample go? Let us know in the comment section below. |
