In case you've been hiding under a rock and didn't hear the news, Josh Norman's franchise tag has been rescinded by the Panthers and he is now a free agent. The question is should the Jags sign him?

Josh Norman was franchise tagged by the Panthers earlier this offseason, but Norman refused to sign the tag and was going to hold out. Norman and his camp want a Revis type deal - upwards of $16 million per year - and the Panthers just weren't willing to fork over that type of cash for the 29 year old All-Pro. So, the Panthers decided to cut their losses and move on. This leaves the door open for any team that has the money to pursue Norman, a true number one cornerback, who recorded 4 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles in 2015, while helping lead the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance.

The question is should the Jags pursue him? The answer is YES! The Jags have been searching for a number one cornerback ever since the departure of Rashean Mathis. Sure, the Jags will have to fork over around $16 million a year for several years, but with $54.8 million in cap space that type of contract will have little to no impact on future negotiations with the Jaguars young stars.

Norman would immediately solidify the Jaguars defensive back field, plus he would bring a swagger to the Jags defense. a swagger that has not been seen in Duval for some time. He would start on one side while Davon House and Prince Amukamara would compete for the other starting job. Tashaun Gipson would play the deep middle while John Cyprien would be allowed to roam the box and unload on fools.

The Jags need to throw everything they've got at Norman and pray he decides to come to Duval. After all, Davon House did say the Jaguars could be this years version of the Panthers and adding arguably their most important defensive weapon would go a long way towards achieving that goal.

It's really quite simple:

Josh Norman + Malik Jackson, Tashaun Gipson, Prince Amukamara + Return of the Poz, Sen'Derrick Marks, Dante Fowler + Myles Jack + maturation of Jags young offense = AFC South Title
