Could Ngakoue be heading to the Pacific Northwest?

BY JORDAN DE LUGO

A potential suitor for Yannick Ngakoue has emerged. The Jaguars' young defensive end is set to hit free agency, but it appears likely that the team will place the franchise tag on Ngakoue and then search for a suitable trade partner.

According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, the Seahawks are interested in acquiring the services of the dynamic speed rusher. In Pauline's latest mailbag, he broke down what he's hearing out of Seattle.
I've been told by a very good source that the Seahawks would like to acquire Yannick Ngakoue via trade. My sources tell me they believe compensation would include something like a second-round selection and possibly a situation where the Seahawks swap their pick in round one for the Jags pick in the second round. - Tony Pauline
In case that's tough to understand, here's what this potential trade would look like.

Jaguars Send:

Yannick Ngakoue
42nd Overall Pick in 2020 Draft

Seahawks Send:

27th Overall Pick in 2020 Draft
64th Overall Pick in 2020 Draft

This would be an ideal trade for the Jaguars. Ngakoue doesn't want to play in Jacksonville. Attaining another first-round pick in the upcoming draft would give the Jaguars a total of three first-round selections (#'s 9,20,27). It's rare to have that kind of draft capital. The Jaguars would potentially be able to select three immediate starters or have the ammunition to trade up for a particular player they have their sights set on.

Losing a player like Yannick Ngakoue is never easy. He's as hardworking as they come, and he makes game-changing plays regularly. But getting this type of value back AND sending him outside the conference would be a big win for the Jaguars.

There will be other teams around the league looking to add Yannick Ngakoue to their pass rush, but this could be the best potential offer.

Jaguars' GM Dave Caldwell told the media at the combine that the team wants to keep Ngakoue around, but Yan's dissatisfaction with the organization is apparent. Jacksonville has until 4 pm on March 12th to officially place the franchise tag on Yannick Ngakoue.
