Here we go again.

BY JORDAN DE LUGO

The Yannick Ngakoue Sage continues...

Wednesday afternoon, Michael Lombardi of The Athletic reported that the Jaguars were "extremely close" to trading Yannick Ngakoue for what he was hearing would be a second-round pick.

Lombardi proceeded to be duped by a fake Adam Schefter Twitter account moments later.

Shortly after that misstep, Lombardi shared that he heard "the team deeply involved is the NY Jets....that's not fake news. Does it happen? Not sure, but they are trying."

Lombardi's reports quickly went from the Jaguars being "extremely close" to trading Ngakoue to "they are trying."

But wait, there's more. Manish Mehta, the Jets beat reporter for the New York Daily News, shared this a couple of hours after Lombardi's initial tweet: "My understanding is that the Jets are not involved in discussions dealing with Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue as of now."

It gets even better.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media talked about the situation later on Wednesday evening: "As of now, there are no signs that anything is imminent with Ngakoue," said Pelissero. "Based on conversations that I've had with teams that have spoken with the Jaguars, it would be shocking if they're willing to move Ngakoue for only a second-round pick. The price is higher; it would have to be something like a second-round pick and change."

As the end of training camp rapidly approaches, one of three things will happen. The Jaguars and Ngakoue will find a suitable trade partner OR Yannick Ngakoue will play for the Jaguars under the franchise tag in 2020 OR he'll sit out and not make a dime.

It seems Michael Lombardi's reports, if you want to call them that at this point, were much adieu about nothing.

Stay tuned, Duval!
