The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing former Bears' cornerback Xavier Crawford to a one-year deal, per Tom Pelissero.
Crawford (26) stands 5'11" and weighs in at 185 pounds. He was a sixth-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2019. After being waived by Houston in October of his rookie year, Crawford signed with the Miami Dolphins. Following the 2019 season, he signed with the Chicago Bears, where he spent most of 2020-2021 on their practice squad. Crawford was elevated to the game day roster several times during the 2021 season. While his primary role was on special teams, he also registered 140 defensive snaps, where he mostly aligned in the slot. Crawford recorded 15 total tackles in 2021, six of which came on special teams. Crawford reunites with Jaguars' passing game coordinator and cornerbacks coach Deshea Townsend, who was his secondary coach in Chicago. He'll compete for a backup and special teams role with the Jaguars in 2021, who have several starting-caliber cornerbacks on the roster in Shaquill Griffin, Darious Williams, and Tyson Campbell.
