Randy Gregory, one of the top pass rush prospects in the 2015 NFL draft failed a drug test at the NFL combine. He tested positive for marijuana. The test shows signficant marijuana use. At Generation Jaguar we are not here to be your moral compass, to endorse or reprimand marijuana use. However, This is the second red flag for a prospect who has been linked with the Jaguars for some time. The Jaguars will likely take an edge rusher with their first pick in the draft, and many believe it should be Randy Gregory. He has elite pass rushing skills, yet he is oft injured, and now this. What exactly does a failed drug test mean though? It does not mean Gregory is a bad person or lacks morals. It does however suggest that Gregory has a lack of understanding of just how important not doing drugs in the NFL is. Or it could suggest that Gregory has a problem with marijuana, and even when faced with the most important job interview of his life, he couldn't get clean. Or maybe it suggests a lack of respect for the game. Whatever this failed test may mean, it is certainly not good, and will raise red flags. Gregory is an elite talent who now has injury concern as well as character issues to overcome. With the Jaguars having such a long history of the off the field issues including Justin Blackmon, a former top 5 pick who has marijuana issues, we would guess that they pass on him. There are other prospects that are much cleaner and have similar talent. Stay tuned for more on Randy Gregory and the rest of the NFL draft hopefuls. |
