The Jaguars have made a bevy of improvements on paper this offseason. Pro Football Focus still isn't buying the hype.

By Jordan de Lugo

The Jacksonville Jaguars have overhauled their roster, coaching staff, and front office in 2017. Tom Coughlin is the new boss, Doug Marrone is the new head coach, and there are at least a handful of new starters on offense and defense.

A new offensive identity that will feature Leonard Fournette and a defense lead by Calais Campbell and a host of other impact players, yet Pro Football Focus isn't buying the hype:
14. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-10)
This offseason the Jaguars added several players who could play key roles on the team including Leonard Fournette, A.J. Bouye and Calais Campbell. The only interior defenders with more pressures than Campbell in the PFF era are J.J. Watt and Ndamukong Suh. If this team can take advantage of their new talent and Blake Bortles plays more like he did in 2015 than 2016, this team will have their best season in years. However, with Bortles’ inconsistency, it’s hard to project them to win too many more games than they had been the last few years.
This is the same picture that is painted by most media. The Jaguars are vastly improved in every facet of the game -- Expect for the most important one: Quarterback.

Bortles will be a major question mark until he isn't. Until Bortles put together multiple solid games in a row Jaguars fans and media alike will be skeptical of the Jaguars fourth year QB.

This is Bortles' defining year. Whether or not it will work out for the Jaguars remains to be seen, but to rank the Jaguars the third worst in their conference might be a little bit far fetched with such a talented roster. There are several teams in front of the Jaguars on this list that could easily end up with a worse record than the Jags. The AFC South is wide open yet the Titans, Colts, and Texans are all ranked in front of the Jaguars. The Ravens and Bills are both questionable as well in 2017 and are rated higher than the Jaguars.

Time will tell whether or not Blake Bortles will reign in the turnovers, but the Jaguars will certainly be handicapped by the media until Bortles shows that he can take care of the ball.

Stay tuned for more!
