The Jaguars have added quite a bit of talent to an already skilled defensive unit this offseason including Calais Campbell, AJ Bouye, and Barry Church among others. This strong defensive unit combined with a potentially elite group of playmakers at receiver have some NFL analysts picking the Jaguars to make the playoffs in 2017.
It would mark the first time the franchise has made the playoffs since 2007. Brian Baldinger of NFL Network was asked which of the five teams with the longest playoff droughts in the NFL will end their playoff drought this season and he believes it will be the Jaguars. See for yourself:
Much of what Baldy says here is true. The only comment that I would caution viewers not to completely buy in to is this:
Get the quarterback situation straightened out
Yes, the Jaguars do need to get their quarterback situation figured out. But Baldinger seems to insinuate that it's a foregone conclusion that the Jaguars will be able to do that. With all signs pointing to Blake Bortles being the day one starter for the club I do not share Ballinger's confidence.
