Leonard Fournette has been the topic of a fair amount of scorn from the Jaguars fan base in recent months. After a stellar rookie year, Fournette's sophomore campaign left a lot to be desired. Injuries, quite clearly, took their toll on the Jaguars' running back, both mentally and physically. When Doug Marrone spoke to the media at the NFL combine on Wednesday, he talked at length on the subject of Leonard Fournette. "I think last year, obviously, was tough with the injuries. And I think anytime that you're young and you have a lot of expectations put on you and you have injuries it's tough to deal with . . . after the season was over it was noted that we sat down and spoke, he and I. I really believe he's in a good place. He's been in the building and working out, you know, working hard." He continued to speak about Fournette and cleared up any questions that fans may have had about what LF27's usage will be like in the Jaguars' offense moving forward.
"I just think of Leonard Fournette playing a major role in what we're trying to get accomplished. Being a workhorse for us and feeding him the ball and making sure that he's practicing and is a three-down back." "When do we take him off the field? I want him to be out there." While lazy trade rumors continue to surround Leonard Fournette and the Jaguars, it appears that inside the building Fournette is still expected to the focal point of the Jaguars offensive attack in 2019. |
