Leonard Fournette is primed for big production on the ground in week seven. The Bengals may be the juiciest matchup for the Jaguars’ third-year running back all year. Fournette has been fairly matchup proof this season and has produced for the Jaguars’ offense nearly every week. Through six games, LF27 has racked up 584 rushing yards, good for third-most in the NFL. The bruising runner has also been a factor through the air, hauling in 26 catches for 189 yards. That puts him on pace for over 2,000 total yards in 2019! Perhaps even more impressive than the yardage totals is the efficiency. Fournette is averaging 5.1 yards per carry and has corralled 72% oh his targets. This weekend, Fournette should pick up a healthy chunk of yardage, both on the ground and through the air.
The Bengals’ defense, despite having Geno Atkins in the middle of the D-line, is surrendering 5.3 yards per carry and a ridiculous 184.5 yards per game on the ground. The biggest reason for the Bengals’ failures in run defense this year, is their linebacker play. Linebackers Preston Brown and Nick Vigil have struggled with their run fits and have combined to miss 15 tackles. The fact that defensive end Carlos Dunlap might not be available due to a knee injury helps Fournette too. Plus the Bengals are down their top two cornerbacks. All this adds up to the potential for massive production for Leonard Fournette this Sunday in Cincinnati. Follow Jordan on Twitter for all the latest Jaguars news and analysis. |
