On Thursday morning Kyler Murray had his combine measurements taken and the results . . . significantly improved his draft stock. The Heisman winning QB is officially over 5'10'' tall, measuring 5101. He weighed in at a bulked up 207 lbs. Many believed that Murray was much closer to 5'8'' than the 5'10'' that he was listed at on Oklahoma's roster. The doubters were proven wrong this morning. At 5'10'' tall and 207 lbs. Murray certainly has enough bulk to hold up at the next level, and he's well versed at avoiding the bone-jarring hits that NFL linebackers and safeties are known for. His size compares favorably to Russell Wilson, who has had little trouble finding success for the Seahawks in Seattle.
Unfortunately, Murray is planning on NOT participating in any of the drills at the combine this week. That won't hurt his draft stock, but it would be nice to see him on the same field as some of the other QBs in this draft class, namely Dwayne Haskins. But Murray has a fantastic arm, so again, this won't hurt his draft stock. Murray should be very much in play for the Jaguars. Jaguars' head coach Doug Marrone told the media on Wednesday that he values the ability for QBs to buy extra time, and we all know Murray is more than capable of doing just that. But Tom Coughlin, Dave Caldwell, Doug Marrone, and company may not have the chance to land the young athletic QB. Arizona GM Steve Keim was non-committal in regards to Josh Rosen's future with the team on Wednesday, and the Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury famously said if he ever had the opportunity he would take Murray with the first pick. Whether or not Keim is trying to create a smoke screen or not remains to be seen. Would you like to see Kyler Murray in Jacksonville next season? Let us know in the comments below! |
