Earlier this offseason it was revealed that Jalen Ramsey sustained a core muscle injury, more commonly known as a sports hernia. The injury required a minor surgical procedure that kept Jalen Ramsey out of the first several weeks of training camp and out of the first two preseason games for the Jaguars in 2017.
Now, according to Head Coach Doug Marrone, Jalen Ramsey will see his first game action of 2017 against the Panthers on Thursday night. Of course, Ramsey likely won't play for very long. But getting your best player and emotional leader back is always a major plus. Ramsey hasn't been the only Jaguars CB to miss extensive time this training camp. AJ Bouye is currently being held out with an undisclosed injury, while Aaron Colvin was just activated from the PUP list. It appears that Colvin could be on track to make his first appearance of 2017 as well. The Jaguars secondary has big aspirations in 2017, but they'll need to all hit the field together in order to achieve the success they are striving for. All 5 starters in the secondary have missed time at some point in 2017, so keep an eye on Jalen Ramsey, AJ Bouye, Aaron Colvin, Tashaun Gipson, and Barry Church moving forward. If all five can play extensively in 2017 the Jaguars might have one of the better secondaries in all of football. What do you hope to see from Jalen Ramsey on Thursday?
