The Jaguars 2016 first round draft pick Jalen Ramsey has been diagnosed with a slightly torn meniscus. The cornerback from Florida State is the second Jaguars 1st round pick in as many years to get injured before ever playing a down in the NFL. Luckily for the Jaguars and Ramsey, the injury should be fully healed prior to the start of training camp. As long as everything goes as planned this should be an extremely minor setback, but the fact that the Jags have had two straight first round picks get injured within a few weeks of being drafted by the team is a reason for concern.
The Jaguars will now have several key players coming off injuries heading into the 2016 season. Sen’Derrick Marks, Dante Fowler, Jalen Ramsey, and Myles Jack are all expected to be major contributors in 2016 and will all be coming off injuries. The Jags defense is expected to be greatly improved in 2016 and it likely will be, but setbacks like this aren't helping. If Ramsey isn't ready for training camp then Davon House and Prince Amukamara will get nearly all the first team reps on the outside. When reading other stories about this please remember that this is a minor injury and shouldn't take an extended period of time to heal. |
