Madden ratings are here and we have a lot to talk about.

BY JORDAN DE LUGO

EA has officially released their initial Madden NFL 20 (the upcoming version of the long-running football simulation video game) ratings via their website.

There's certainly a lot to get into when it comes to Madden ratings. I'll start by taking a look at the Jaguars' highest-rated player and the top cornerback in the game, Jalen Ramsey. He comes in with a 96 overall rating and is the 18th highest rated player overall. Ramey's most impressive individual stats are his awareness and man coverage, which both top out at 97. As Madden 20's most dynamic and highest rated cover corner, Ramsey and his fans should be pleased with Madden's assessment of his overall game, although I'm sure the King won't be satisfied until he gets the ever-elusive 99 overall.

There are a number of other notable ratings for the Jaguars. Calais Campbell is the only other Jag that came in with a rating above 90 at 92 overall. Awareness, strength, block shedding, and tackling are among his best traits, according to EA. As one of the best run defenders in football and a pass rusher that has recorded 25 sacks in the last two seasons, it could easily be argued that Campbell should be rated higher overall.

Some of the other highest rated Jaguars are CB AJ Bouye (88), C Brandon Linder (86), G Andrew Norwell (86), DE Yannick Ngakoue (84), LB Myles Jack (83), RB Leonard Fournette (81), DT Marcell Dareus (81), and WR Marqise Lee (81). Two blatant misses by the Madden crew among those listed above are Ngakoue and Dareus, both of whom should be rated considerably higher. No player drafted since 2016 has been more productive than Yannick Ngakoue as a pass rusher and Dareus was one of the best interior run defenders in the NFL last season.
Rookie pass rusher Josh Allen came in at 77 overall and is the highest-rated rookie for the Jaguars.

Perhaps the most surprising rating is Nick Foles coming in at 77. It seems to me that over the last two seasons in Philly, Foles has proven he's much more capable than a 77 overall rating would suggest. His combination of throw power (87), short accuracy (87), medium accuracy (83), deep accuracy (83), and awareness (83) would seemingly lead to a higher overall rating than just 77.
