The anticipation for the Jaguars preseason matchup with the Vikings is growing.
Yes . . . I said it . . . people are actually getting excited for a Jaguars preseason game. The two teams will face off during week two of the preseason on August 18th at 1pm. The game will be televised nationally on NFL Network and will air locally on CBS 47. There is good reason for the increased interest. Both teams made it to their respective conference championship game and came within moments of earning a spot in the Super Bowl. The two teams proved to be dangerous on both sides of the ball last year . . . and the Vikings landed QB Kirk Cousins this offseason, while the Jaguars added the crown jewel of the O-Line free agent class, Andrew Norwell. If this were a week three preseason matchup we would likely see starters playing into the second half, but as it is the teams will still likely play some starters into the second quarter and maybe even all the way to half time. There's a chance the two teams will be a bit salty towards each other as they'll face off for two days of practice earlier in the week at the Vikings practice facility. Does it really mean anything that a Jaguars preseason game is receiving national attention? No. But for fans that worry about the national perception of the Jaguars it's a small sign that interest in the team is growing, as it should be. |
