JAGUARS VS JETS THURSDAY MORNING INJURY UPDATE: RAMSEY, JACKSON, FORTE, WILKERSON MISS PRACTICE9/27/2017 Injuries play a pivotal role in the outcomes of games in the NFL. As the season moves forward more and more injuries will start to pile up. For the Jaguars and Jets there are several key names in the injury report.
JAGUARS Here's the Jaguars Wednesday Injury Report: QB Blake Bortles, Right Wrist, Full Participant WR Jaelen Strong, Hamstring, Did Not Participate CB Jalen Ramsey, Ankle, Did Not Participate LB Myles Jack, Ankle, Limited LB Donald Payne, Hamstring, Did Not Participate LB Lerentee McCray, Knee, Did Not Participate C Brandon Linder, Knee, Limited LT Cam Robinson, Shoulder, Limited DT Malik Jackson, Groin, Did Not Participate At first glance the injury report is extremely frightening, however, none of the injuries to major contributors are expected to hold them out this weekend. Bortles has been dealing with a wrist injury all year and to this point it hasn't had any effect on his play. It would be nice for the Jaguars if they could activate newly acquired WR Jaelen Strong this week, but that may be a week or two away. Jalen Ramsey hasn't practiced in over two weeks, but he'll be expected to play, and play very well at that. Donald Payne isn't much of a factor, but the Jaguars would still like to have him for depth. Lerentee McCray is a core special teamer and quality backup pass rusher. Brandon Linder was also on the injury report for the last two weeks and he'll be expected to suit up and play at a high level. Cam Robinson is on the injury report for the second straight week and will also be expected to play -- likewise for Malik Jackson. Myles Jack was a late add to the injury report, but he was still active in practice in a limited capacity, so he'll be expected to play. If any of these expectations change and one of these key contributors is forced to miss the Jaguars contest with the Jets this weekend it'll be a huge loss for the team. JETS The Jets are dealing with many injuries of their own. In fact, they've got over 15 players on their injury report. We're not going to dive into all of them here, but we will look at some of their key players. Matt Forte is week to week with a toe injury and appears extremely unlikely to play against the Jaguars. Forte isn't the player he once was, but he has a penchant for racking up big number against the Jaguars in his past. Assuming Forte can't go this weekend Bilal Powell, Elijah McGuire, and even newly signed RB Travaris Cadet could be in for a much bigger work load than normal. Powell has been ineffective this season, averaging just 2.6 yard per carry, while McGuire has been the Jets most efficient runner despite limited snaps. McGuire is averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Muhammad Wilkerson, the Jets beastly defensive lineman, is battling a shoulder sprain. He's dealing with a lot of pain, and isn't yet practicing, but it looks like he's going to try to tough it out on Sunday. Starting right tackle Brandon Shell is also battling a shoulder injury and did not participate in practice Wednesday. The Jets offensive line faces a tough task this week and they'd like to be at full strength - time will tell whether or not Shell can go on Sunday. Tight End Jordan Leggett is also dealing with a knee injury and has yet to practice this week. Stay tuned for more updates! |
