It appears the Jaguars will stick with their kicker for now, and will miss 5 players against the Panthers. This and more Jaguars news from Monday.

By Jordan de Lugo

On Monday the Jaguars, similarly to the rest of America, altered their regularly scheduled day - instead of practicing at their outdoor Florida Blue Practice field, the team took it in inside to their indoor practice facility at Daily's Place. Marrone playfully cited not wanting to have players or coaches staring up at the sun during practice.

Regarding the newly announced QB battle it appears there is no movement. Marrone said he would likely inform the QBs of his decision on who would start Thursday against the Panthers the night before the game. It seems likely that Chad Henne will get the start, considering the coaches need to see him play more with the first team than they have to this point, but we won't find out who is starting until much later in the week.

Marrone did comment on the availability of several players. RBs Leonard Fournette and TJ Yeldon, WR Marqise Lee, TE Mychal Rivera, and CB AJ Bouye were all ruled out for Thursdays game.

Marrone also touched on the Jaguars situation at kicker. After brining in two kickers for tryouts over the weekend, the Jaguars decided to stand pat with Jason Myers, for now. Marrone made it clear that kicker, like every position on the team, is constantly being evaluated. Myers is slumping badly, missing three FGs and one PAT over the first two weeks of the preseason. In my estimation he needs some competition, but the Jaguars coaching staff and front office have boldly decided to stick with Myers, at least for the moment.

In terms of the head coach's confidence in the team's linebackers it seemed particularly high. He's happy with Myles Jack at strong side in base situations, with Paul Posluszny in the middle, and Telvin Smith on the weak side. Marrone was, however, a bit concerned with the team's backup weak side linebacker spot. The coaching staff doesn't feel that anyone has really taken hold of that spot yet.
