Dave Caldwell confirmed on Wednesday that the Jaguars are going to pick up Jalen Ramsey's fifth year option. Ramsey enters the final year of his rookie deal in 2019, but with the option picked up the Jaguars will now have their star cornerback under contract through 2020. His 2020 salary will be pre determined based on the transition tag value for CBs. In 2018 cornerbacks earned just under $13 million on the transition tag, so you can expect his number to be anywhere from $13-15 million in 2020. The Jaguars can still work to come to a long term agreement with Ramsey throughout the 2019 and 2020 seasons. If no agreement can be reached, the Jaguars could also elect to franchise tag Ramsey after the 2020 season. That, of course, would not be ideal. Ramsey is a transcendent talent that the Jaguars should look to lock for as long as possible as soon as possible.
