The Jaguars maintain that they are confident in Luke Joeckel, but will meet with former Pittsburgh left tackle Kelvin Beachum.

The Jaguars will host former Pittsburgh left tackle Kelvin Beachum on Monday.

Who Is This Guy?

Beachum was the starter for the Steelers prior to tearing his ACL in the seventh game of the 2015 season and was originally drafted in 2012. Drafted with the 248th pick in the 2012 Draft out of Southern Methodist University Beachum did not appear to be an impact player. However, over the past four seasons in Pittsburgh Beachum has started 35 games and played at a high level as the starting left tackle for the Steelers, excelling as a pass blocker while being at the very least an average run blocker. Beachum stands 6'3'' and weighs over 300 pounds.

How Does He Fit With The Jags?

Beachum's market hasn't been as hot as he would have liked due to his recent injury, but despite the apparent lack of interest around the league, Beachum remains a quality offensive lineman. At only 26 years old he is likely to fully recover from his torn ACL and return to form. He would immediately provide great depth for the Jaguars, but the question is would he pose a threat to Luke Joeckel?

Joeckel has mixed reviews. People inside the Jaguars organization really like the 24 year old left tackle, but fans and media outside the organization seem to have a different point of view. The bottom line is that Joeckel has been inconsistent to this point in his career and was not performing at a level that would exceed the level of Kelvin Beachum's play prior to Beachum's injury. If Beachum does sign with the Jags then Joeckel's starting job will certainly be in jeopardy. This could push Joeckel to have the best offseason of his career or result in a changing of the guard at left tackle for the Jaguars.
