The Jaguars are signing kicker Ryan Santoso according to his agent Sean Stellato.
Santoso signed with the Lions as undrafted free agent in 2018. After two seasons in Detroit, Santoso took his talents to Montreal, where he played in the Canadian Football League for the Alouettes. He has since spent time with the Titans, Giants, Panthers, and most recently with the Rams in 2021, where he became a Super Bowl Champion. At 6'5" and 260 pounds, Santoso is one of the bigger kickers you'll see. The Pace, Florida native, played his college ball at Minnesota. Santoso is now 26 years old and, in 2021, kicked his first regular-season field goals in the NFL, making 4/5 kicks, including a long of 35-yards. He also converted on six of eight extra-point tries in 2021. Santoso has kicked off 32 times in his career, with 12 touchbacks. The Jaguars have had some unfortunate luck in the kicking department as of late. Josh Lambo was the most accurate kicker in the game before injuring his hip in 2020, but he could not regain his pre-injury form for the Jaguars and ultimately was cut during the 2021 season. Since Lambo's injury, the Jaguars have been searching for a consistent place kicker. Matthew Wright, who is under contract for the 2022 season, offered the Jaguars some consistency in 2021, making 87.5% of his field-goal attempts and 86.7% of his extra points. Wright kicked off 31 times for the Jaguars, registering only six touchbacks. Follow Jordan on Twitter. |
