The Jaguars have signed seventh-round pick, kick returner/defensive back, Chris Claybrooks.
The Memphis product, by way of Coahoma Community College, left school after his junior year. The dynamic playmaker was a wide receiver prior to transferring to Memphis but made the switch to cornerback upon joining the Tigers. While diminutive, at just 5'9'' and 179 pounds, Claybrooks will have a shot to make the Jaguars' roster, if he can prove that he's the best return man on the team. The Jaguars have struggled to find a consistent returner on both kickoffs and punts. Claybrooks' speed and penchant for big returns, will afford him the opportunity to lock down a job in the NFL. Claybrooks averaged 30 yards per kick return and took one kickoff to the house during his final year at Memphis. His 4.3 speed should serve him and the Jaguars well. Claybrooks is the tenth of the twelve Jaguars' draft picks to sign. He joins CB CJ Henderson, CB Josiah Scott, OL Ben Bartch, WR Laviska Shenault Jr., DT DaVon Hamilton, LB Shaq Quarterman, WR Collin Johnson, and TE Tyler Davis. Remaining unsigned are EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson, QB Jake Luton and S Daniel Thomas. Follow Jordan on Twitter for all the latest Jaguars news and analysis. |
