The Jaguars have signed former third round pick Akeem Dent. The former Georgia Bulldogs standout was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2011. In 2014 Dent was traded to the Houston Texans, where he played out the remainder of his rookie contract and signed a two year deal in 2015. His two year deal ended in 2016 and the Texans decided to move on from the outside linebacker. His signing brings to Jaguars roster to it's limit at 90 players.
Now, the Jaguars have added him to the mix at outside linebacker. The team recently parted ways with 2017 free agent addition linebacker Audi Cole. Cole was signed to the team as a priority player on special teams, but failed to make an impact in the eyes of the Jaguars new special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis. With Dent now in the fold at linebacker the Jaguars will have some tough decisions to make at the position when roster cuts come. Dent has started 32 games in the NFL, recorded 130 tackles, and 2.5 sacks. Stay tuned for more! Are you excited to see Dent in a Jaguars uniform? Let us know in the comment section below. |
