The Jaguars have made a plethora of roster moves to start the week. That continued late in the morning on Tuesday when the team announced that they waived long snapper Andrew East and signed tight end DeAndre Goolsby.
East didn't figure to make it past cuts later this summer as former special teams captain and longtime Jaguars long snapper Carson Tinker has fully recovered from an ACL tear suffered during 2017 training camp. Goolsby, however, will have a shot to, at the very least, make the Jaguars practice squad. He was a productive receiving tight end at the University of Florida and at 6'4'' tall and 236 pounds Goolsby has the size and athleticism to compete at the next level. His most productive season at Florida came in 2016 when he caught 38 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns. In total Goolsby recorded 67 catches for 711 yards and four touchdowns in his three year career at UF. After going undrafted in April's Draft Goolsby has found a home (for now) just 80 miles northeast of where he played his college ball. |
