Jaguars Release Sergio Brown

The Jaguars have released free safety Sergio Brown. Brown who was brought in last offseason to compete for a starting safety job and improve the Jaguars special teams coverage unit was a big a disappointment in his only season with the team. Honestly, Brown was a stop gap guy who was never going to be a full time starter or contributor, but he struggled to earn playing time and when he did get on the field Brown was unimpressive to say the least. With the addition of the stud free agent safety, Tashaun Gipson, the Jags have little need for a free safety who isn't much more than a special teams player at this point. A 27 year old free safety who recorded 38 tackles and 2 passes defended, Sergio Brown likely won't have a huge market, but could end up on a roster before next season.
