The Jaguars have released RB Benny Cunningham with an injury settlement. Cunningham apparently injured his hamstring in practice on Saturday.
Less than 48 hours ago it looked like Cunningham had a real shot at making the Jaguars' 53 man roster at the end of camp. But Thomas Rawls' return to the practice field on Saturday was going to make that a difficult proposition in and of itself. Rawls and Cunningham have a similar skill set, but when Rawls has been healthy, he's shown more juice. He likely now has the inside track on the final running back roster spot. He's fit for the first time since July 26th. If the rest of camp goes as planned, it'll likely be Leonard Fournette, Ryquell Armstead, Alfred Blue, and Thomas Rawls that make up the team's backfield. That backfield would have some versatility. With Armstead and Blue they'd also be able to mimic Fournette's tough running style, should he be forced to miss game action. The Jaguars also signed rookie OL Ka'John Armstrong, ninth-year OL Ben Ijalana and first-year TE Ethan Wolf. To make more room on the roster, the team waived offensive lineman Jordan Agasiva and offensive lineman Andrew Lauderdale. Follow Jordan on twitter for all the latest Jaguars news! |
