The Jaguars announced, just hours before the 2019 NFL Draft gets under way, that they will pick up Jalen Ramsey's fifth year option.
Files this one under: duh. With Ramsey's option being picked up, the Jaguars now have their star cornerback under contract through 2020. Ramsey has been voted to two Pro Bowls and was a first team All-Pro in 2017. In just three short years, he's become one of the most feared cover corners in the game. While this guarantees that the Jaguars will have Ramsey's services through the 2020 season, it also likely means that the two sides won't begin to negotiate a long term deal anytime soon. Ramsey has yet to report to the Jaguars voluntary offseason program and I don't expect he'll make an appearance until the mandatory portion of the offseason rolls around. Stay tuned for more. |
