For months it's been well known among those close to the Jaguars organization that the team would be donning new uniforms in 2018. The Jaguars, however, didn't confirm the new unis until earlier this week when they addressed uniforms, tarps, ticket sales/prices, and concessions. Team President Mark Lamping did a pseudo local media tour, speaking with several outlets. To the delight of many, the Jaguars helmets will go back to a one tone look. Beyond that little is known about what exactly the Jaguars new uniforms will look like. But Lamping shed a bit of light on the creative direction of the uniforms when he spoke to the Florida Times-Union. He had this to say: We did a lot of work directly with Nike and shared that work with Shad and Tom . . . Shad was more involved up-front and Tom was more involved once we got some things together. Tom had some really specific design principles that were important to him — very traditional. The key words from that excerpt, in my opinion, were "very traditional". In my mind that means the Jaguars will be going back to the late 90's early 00's look. Obviously these uniforms will have an updated look compared to the classic looks of the Jaguars, but they should have an overwhelmingly traditional feel. The Jerseys will likely look a lot more like this: Than this: Going back to a more traditional look could certainly be a good idea and could help to build a more encompassing and familiar brand identity for older and younger generations. The team is set to release the new look uniforms in early April. Will you be excited if the Jaguars new uniforms are indeed a throwback to the more traditional look?
