Heading into the 2017 season there wasn't much talk about the Jaguars kicking situation. Most assumed that the Jaguars were fine with third year kicker Jason Myers, who has shown the ability to make long kicks and is the master of the kickoff, but with a lack of accuracy from Myers early in training camp, the talk of whether or not he is the answer for the Jaguars at kicker began to heat up. Then, in preseason week one, he missed two long, but makable FGs against the Patriots, and followed it up by missing a FG and an extra point in week two against the Buccaneers.
After the two awful performances the Jaguars proceeded to bring in two kickers for a work out. To the dismay of many Jaguars fans both left Jacksonville unsigned. While Myers has proven to be far from reliable, he did respond to the controversy well. On Thursday against the Panthers Myers made his lone FG attempt from 44 yards and was 2/2 on extra points. Myers' body of work in 2017 is . . . awful, but at least he responded to adversity with a nice performance. Right? Would you like the Jaguars to bring in some competition at kicker or ride it out with Jason Myers? Let us know in the comments below! |
