The Jaguars have hired Tom Coughlin to be their Executive Vice President of Football Operations per Adam Schefter.
Yes, the same Tom Coughlin that guided the team to two AFC Championship games in it's first five years of existence. The same guy that has two Super Bowl rings. The same guy that as GM/Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars was run out of town after putting the team in salary cap hell. Coughlin spent the last 12 seasons coaching the New York Giants, where he won two Super Bowls and over 100 games. He helped Eli Manning become the quarterback he is today and spent time coaching elite defenders such as Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, and Jason Pierre-Paul. Prior to joining the Giants in 2004 Coughlin was the head man in Jacksonville for eight seasons. As most of you know the Jaguars made the playoffs four times while Coughlin was at the helm, including the 1999 season when the team went 14-2 in the regular season, only to lose the Titans in the AFC Champiosnhip, the third time the Jags lost to the Titans that season. Coughlin was the first and most successful head coach in Jaguars history. If Coughlin is able to help guide the young and talented Jaguars to success as an executive he will likely establish himself as a true Hall of Famer.
