It became clear after the Jaguars introductory press conference for Tom Coughlin and Doug Marrone that the Jaguars would still be searching for their Offensive and Defensive Coordinators despite confirming that both Todd Wash and Nate Hackett would return. What did that mean? It meant that Wash and Hackett would be back, but it wasn't clear if they would be demoted back to their original positions of Defensive Line Coach and Quarterbacks Coach respectively.
The Jaguars quickly came to the conclusion that Wash would be the Defensive Coordinator but they took a bit longer to settle on the right Offensive Coordinator.
We learned today that Nathaniel Hackett, who took over as the Jaguars Offensive Coordinator following the mid season firing of former OC Greg Olson, will remain the Jaguars Offensive Coordinator moving forward.
While Hackett's offense was far from spectacular in 2016, it's hard to judge a guy that was thrown to the wolves mid season. There were some good things that came from the change in Offensive Coordinator. Bortles was certainly more comfortable under Hackett and it showed as Bortles big mistakes and interceptions were reduced in the latter part of the season. In addition the running game found more life under Hackett than it did under Olson. Let's not get it twisted though, the 2016 offense was not Hackett's.
