JAGUARS FAVORED BY 4.5 OVER THE JETS

The Jaguars are favored for the third consecutive week.

The Jaguars, for the third straight week, are favored to win. Two weeks ago, the Jaguars were inexplicably favored over the Saints. The only plausible explanation for that line is that the Jaguars were at home. Still, it was a head-scratcher, and the Jaguars wound up losing by seven. Most recently, the Jaguars were favored over the Bengals and, despite a very slow start in terms of putting points on the board, were able to win and cover the spread.

Now, sitting at three wins and four losses, the Jaguars return home to host the Jets. As of this writing, the Jets have won just once in 2019. A week six win over the now-struggling Cowboys, gave hope to a bruised and beaten Jets fan base. The Jets take on the Patriots on Monday Night Football in a game that no one is expecting them to win.

It's easy to see why the Jaguars are favored by 4.5 points over the one-win Jets. Not only are the Jets struggling to win games, but they'll also be preparing for the Jaguars on a short week and playing on the road.

Still, this one won't be as cut and dry as Vegas may have you believe. Sure, the Jaguars could very well win and cover the spread. But with Sam Darnold on the field, the Jets are a different team, as they showed in week six. And New York's bread and butter on the defensive side of the ball, stopping the run, might cause severe issues for a Jaguars' offense that is struggling to put points on the board. With Gardner Minshew under center, the Jaguars haven't struggled to move the ball, but finishing drives has and continues to be an area of concern for John DeFilippo's offense.

One way or the other, the line will likely move throughout the week. If the Jets can't hang with the Pats tonight, it could lead to the Jaguars getting more points. But if New York is competitive against the best team in football, that could inspire some to take the Jets.

Either way, the Jaguars are favored and in desperate need of a win to get back to .500.

Do you think they'll get the job done?
