The Jaguars have been the subject of much media debate this offseason. But for NFL.com's Elliot Harrison there is no doubt: the Jaguars are amongst the elite in the NFL. In his latest power rankings the Jaguars have climbed all the way to the number two spot.
Here's what Elliot had to say about the Big Cats: Jacksonville Jaguars Previous rank: No. 4 Shocked? Don't be. Sure, this is a nod to what the Jaguars accomplished last season and how strong they are heading into the preseason. Going beyond those factors, the absences of Julian Edelman (and others) in New England and Aaron Donald in Los Angeles weaken the Patriots and Rams enough to allow Jacksonville to move up another notch. Of course, so much depends on Blake Bortles' play at quarterback. If he fares like he did in the 2017 postseason, Jacksonville will beat New England come Week 2. Harrison makes some great points here. The Patriots are without their number one receiver for the first four weeks of the season and are seemingly having a fire sale on the rest of their roster. Still, if the Jaguars are to overtake the likes of New England in the AFC then Bortles will need to be playing at the highest level of his career to date. What do you think? Is this a fair ranking as the preseason gets under way? Should the Jaguars be higher? Lower? |
