The Jaguars selected the best running back in this years draft and one of the more intriguing prospects of the last half decade.

By Jordan de Lugo

After a heart pounding first three picks of the draft that included a surprise trade between the Bears and 49ers, the Jaguars were on the clock. They reportedly liked two of the players that went before their selection - But make no mistake about it, Tom Coughlin, Dave Caldwell, and Doug Marrone are very happy with their selection.

Leonard Fournette is a game changer through and through. At give or take 230 pounds Fournette clocked a faster speed on the field than any NFL player in 2016. Yes, that's faster than Tyreek Hill, DeSean Jackson and all the rest of the NFL's speedsters. He will also bring a physical running style that the Jaguars haven't seen since the departure of Maurice Jones-Drew.

On Fournette, the Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone had this to say:
We all know when you put the tape on, the physicality, the way he runs, the type of production he had in obviously a very tough conference.
Now, the Jaguars will take a ton of pressure off of Blake Bortles and his arm with Fournette, who will likely touch the ball at least 20 times a game for the foreseeable future in Jacksonville.

The biggest question is did they reach on him? When the Jaguars select on day two it appears likely that both Dalvin Cook, and Alvin Kamara will be available - two running backs that project very nicely in the NFL.

For the Jaguars though, they saw a game changing player that they could build their offense around - and that's exactly what they should do moving forward. EVP Tom Coughlin emphasized his ability to get the ball in the end zone - a feet the Jaguars have struggled to achieve in recent memory.

Now, the Jaguars must continue to help Blake Bortles and the offense on day two by adding talent to the offensive line.

Stay tuned for more!
