The Jaguars 2019 Schedule is here!

The much-anticipated announcement has come and gone, and now we have five takeaways from the Jaguars 2019 regular season schedule!

1. TNF Against the Titans . . . Again.

The Jaguars play the Titans on Thursday night again this season. It'll be a home game, which should get the juices flowing, but this marks the eighth straight season that the Jaguars have not had a Sunday or Monday night game (last year the Jaguars were so unwatchable that their Sunday night contest against the Steelers was flexed out of the prime time spot). The Titans are the Jaguars biggest rival, so it makes sense from that standpoint, but the Jacksonville vs. Tennessee matchup has been a snooze fest for viewers in recent years. Hopefully, 2019 will change that.

2. September will be difficult

The Jaguars schedule to open the season will be arduous. They open at home against the Chiefs, the same team that sent Jacksonville into disarray after an embarrassing loss at Arrowhead last season. They then travel to Houston, a place where the Jaguars haven't had a ton of success in recent years. The Jags travel back home for a week three showdown with the Titans, a team the Jaguars haven't beaten since 2016, on Thursday night. And to finish out the September slate, the Jaguars travel to Denver, one of the most challenging places to play in the entire league. It would be easy to predict an 0-4 start for the Jaguars in 2019.

3. The Jaguars should be able to make up ground at the end.

Three of the Jaguars final five games will be played at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, including a week 17 season finale against the Colts. The Jaguars face the Bucs, Chargers, Raiders, Falcons, and Colts to end the season. The Jaguars should be able to surge, winning three or four of those final contests. Whether or not that will be enough to get them into the playoffs remains to be seen.

4. Only two September home games is a win for the fans.

Jaguars fans and players endured blistering heat for three home contests in September of 2018. This September the load will be more manageable for player and fans. With two games in September instead of three, fans won't be forced to bake in the Jacksonville sun for three consecutive weeks again this year. That's a big win.

5. This schedule is about as tough as it gets.

If the Jaguars can navigate this schedule successfully en route to a playoff birth, it'll be an impressive feat. Facing the ultra-talented AFC West this season won't be easy. And the NFC South is an equally tricky division. The Jaguars own division, the AFC South, looks to be as tough from top to bottom as any division in football next season. To make the playoffs for the second time in three seasons, the Jaguars will likely need to win at least half of their division games and five out of eight home contests.
