The Jaguars have placed RB Ryquell Armstead, TE Charles Jones, QB Gardner Minshew II, WR Michael Walker, and S Andrew Wingard on the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list. Jones was previously on the list. He was removed from the list earlier today but has since been added back. Gardner Minshew, the Jaguars’ starting QB, is the most notable name on the list. Depending on the timing of his potential return to the team, he could miss several days of team on-field walkthroughs. Fortunately for the Jags, they don’t plan on starting padded practice until the middle of August, which should allow Minshew to participate fully in the padded practices upon his return. Just because a player is placed on the COVID list, it does not necessarily mean they tested positive. Alternatively, they could be on the list because they are in quarantine after coming in close contact with someone who tested positive or displayed symptoms.
Michael Walker is a long shot to make the team but did have a featured role as the starting kick returner for a portion of the 2019 season. He struggled with ball control last season. Andrew Wingard is a core special teamed and provides depth at both safety spots. The Jaguars’ Reserve/COVID-19 list now sits at eight. Cornerback Parry Nickerson, offensive lineman Tre’Vour Wallace-Sims, and offensive lineman Ryan Pope are still on this list. Follow Jordan on Twitter for all the latest Jaguars news and analysis. |
