The Jaguars have activated QB Gardner Minshew and S Andrew Wingard from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Starting Nickel CB DJ Hayden has also been activated from the Active/PUP list. All three are active on the Jaguars' roster. On Sunday, both Gardner Minshew and Andrew Wingard were placed on the COVID-19 list. Less than two full days later, they've both been activated. I'm not one to speculate often, but it seems clear that they were placed in quarantine as a precaution, not because of a positive test. RB Ryquell Armstead, TE Charles Jones, WR Michael Walker, CB Parry Nickerson, OL Tre'Vour Wallace-Sims, and OL Ryan Pope remain on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the Jaguars.
Getting Minshew and Wingard back on the field and in the meeting rooms was critical for the Jaguars. Minshew enters his first full season as the starting QB, while Wingard might be the best special teams coverage player on the roster. DJ Hayden was recovering from a knee injury. His importance to the Jaguars' defense cannot be overstated. He's the most experienced cornerback the Jaguars have, and probably the best (for now). He's excellent in coverage, run defense, and even as a blitzer in the slot. Follow Jordan on Twitter for all the latest Jaguars news and analysis. |
