The Jaguars enter week one of the 2018 regular season with a healthy 53 man roster. That's not something every team around the league can say.
Head Coach Doug Marrone met with the media on Monday morning and discussed the team's overall health. He said every player on the 53 man roster would practice this week in preparation for the team's week one road matchup with the Giants. He mentioned that starting center Brandon Linder, who missed the last two weeks of the preseason, would practice fully during the week and that Linder would have been able to play earlier if the Jaguars were playing in meaningful games. Of course, this doesn't include the team's "number one" receiver Marqise Lee, who underwent successful surgery on his knee last week and is on the injured reserve. He doesn't count towards the 53 man roster. The only other significant contributor who the Jaguars will be without in week one is Dante Fowler Jr. The Jaguars pass rush specialist is suspended for the first week of the regular season due to a violation of the NFL's player conduct policy. He'll return to the team when they return home to Jacksonville to take on the Patriots in week two. The Jaguars were fortunate to lose just one starter during training camp and the preseason. The teams enters the regular season confident, healthy, and hungry. |
