Ereck Flowers will be making his Jaguars debut this Sunday as the Jags take on the Colts in Indy for their first of two matchups this season. This according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Flowers signed on with Jacksonville after we was waived by the Giants in early October. The former first round pick’s career in New York was an absolute train wreck. After failing to develop at left tackle the Giants moved Flowers to the right side of the offensive line, but when his play didn’t improve the Giants decided they had seen enough. Along with his on field issues he’s also been a malcontent, at times, on and off the field. The Jaguars have struggled mightily at left tackle in 2018. Cam Robinson was lost for the year with a torn ACL in just the second week of the season. His backup, Josh Wells, suffered a groin injury in the Jags loss to the Chiefs, and was placed on IR. Since then Josh Walker, whose primary position is guard, has been starting at the left tackle spot, but things haven’t gone well. Insert Ereck Flowers, who is expected to start at left tackle for the Jaguars Sunday. It seems possible that he’ll play better than Josh Walker had in recent games, but anyone who has watched the Giants over the last couple of years knows just how poorly Flowers has performed. Still, the Jaguars knew they couldn’t keep trotting Walker out to start at left tackle every week and this was the best resolution the team could find. Will it pay off in Indy? Only time will tell! |
