Happy Tuesday, Duval!
While there hasn't been a ton of Jaguars news since the coaching hires and subsequent Doug Marrone presser last week, we did get a couple new tidbits on Monday! Let's get to it! Calais Campbell The Jaguars top ranked edge defender, Calais Campbell, was named to the 2019 Pro Bowl on Monday! He takes the place of JJ Watt, who underwent a minor knee procedure following the season. For Campbell it's his second straight Pro Bowl and fourth overall. His 10.5 sacks led the Jaguars. He also accumulated 72 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble. Campbell was dominant against the run all year long and was extremely effective as a pass rusher. It's a well deserved honor for Campbell, who is now 32 years old. He's been assured by the Jaguars that he'll be back in 2019, where he'll try to get to a third straight Pro Bowl, but more importantly he'll do his best to help get the Jaguars back to the post season in 2019. Campbell and Jalen Ramsey are the only two Jags that will play in the 2019 Pro Bowl. London Game The Jaguars annual "home game" in London will pit the Jaguars against their divisional foes, the Texans, in 2019. That means the Jags won't have a game at TIAA Bank Field against Houston next season, but that's alright by me. The home slate at the Bank will include the Chiefs, Chargers, Saints, Buccaneers, Titans, Colts and Jets! That's four 2018 playoff teams and two teams with new head coaches. Not bad at all. Senior Bowl It's Senior Bowl Week! In terms of NFL Draft scouting this is one of the most important weeks of the year. The actual game is great, but practices, weigh-ins, and other measurements are even more important. This is the first time that the NFL scouts will get to see these potential draft picks up close and personal in a practice setting. Every player at the Senior Bowl has NFL talent. All the coverage can be seen on NFL Network. If you want to get a better read on some of the stars and potential diamonds in the rough, this is your chance. Many of these players will be first day selections and even more will go on day two of the draft. |
