The Jaguars have been fortunate, to this point in training camp. to not suffer any major season ending injuries to key players. On Saturday night, during the team's first padded practice, Marqise Lee suffered a minor injury. Donte Moncrief was a non participant in the Saturday practice. Moncrief and Lee are expected to be the top two WRs on the depth chart for the Jaguars this fall. Neither player is expected to miss an extended period of time, but neither will be available on Monday.
Head Coach Doug Marrone on the injuries: They'll be day to day, those guys. It's a matter of getting them back when they release. I don't think it's a long term situation. When you see those guys on the side, them working, you can see exactly where they are. Usually when you see guys on the side it means they're close to coming back. It's a good thing that neither player is expected to miss a long period of time. But their absence will allow Rashad Greene, Jaydon Mickens, Shane Wynn and the rest of the receivers that are competing for the final roster spot at the WR position to prove their worth. Jalen Ramsey is still absent from training camp and does not have a timetable to return. It would be nice to have one hundred percent participation in training camp, but if there's one player that has proven he doesn't need to practice to much to perform at the peak of his ability it's Jalen. He'll be back when he's ready to be back and that's just fine. |
