Dave Caldwell began the post Gus Bradley era press conference at 2pm and had quite a bit to say. Here's some of the highlights: "Gus is not the only one to blame here" He said the decision to fire Gus was made prior to the week 15 game against the Texans and that Gus would have been fired regardless of the result. On the timing of the decision Caldwell said: "we need to start the proces of finding a head coach" Caldwell made it clear "there will be no mandates" "There's no untouchables in this organization" when asked if a new head coach would be forced into starting Bortles. Said he still has confidence in Bortles. He also went on to say that the interim coach Doug Marrone would be a candidate in the coaching search. And yes, he did confirm that Tom Coughlin is someone they would be interested in talking to. After answering a slew of questions Caldwell turned it over to the new interim head coach Doug Marrone. Here's some of what Doug had to say: He made it clear that Bortles will start the final two games of 2016. On the firing of Gus Bradley: "We all have a part in this. It just so happens that when you're the head coach and when you're the leader, this is what happens." Marrone also wanted to make it clear that Nathaniel Hackett now works for him again. Marrone was mildly cheerful, but it seemed that both he and Caldwell took the firing of Gus Bradley very harshly. Stay tuned for more!
