Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. missed the entirety of the Jaguars offseason program and to this point has not been able to participate in training camp practices with a shoulder injury. He was placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp.
The Jaguars announced Saturday morning that Fowler would be removed from the PUP list and would immediately return to practice. Fowler is suspended for the first week of the regular season due to a violation of the NFL's conduct policy, but he will be eligible to return in week two when the Jaguars host the Patriots in the team's home opener. Coming off of a 10 sack (including the playoffs) year, Fowler is looking to play with more consistency and earn a nice new contract in Jacksonville or elsewhere. Because the Jaguars declined his fifth year option Fowler is set to become a free agent after the 2018 season. With five plus weeks before his first opportunity to play in a regular season game, it seems likely that Fowler will be able to get back into football shape in time to make his 2018 debut in week two against the Patriots. |
