The Jaguars announced today that they have parted ways with linebacker Dan Skuta. This move leaves the team with just two of eight free agents they signed in 2015. Notable players from that class that have already moved on from the Jaguars are Julius Thomas, Davon House, and Jared Odrick. Only Jermey Parnell and Bryan Walters remain.
Skuta's time in Jacksonville was . . . disappointing. He never seemed to get into a real grove in the Jaguars defense and many including myself believe he was never used properly by the Jaguars coaching staff. Skuta's best attribute before he got to Jacksonville was his ability to put pressure on the opposing quarterback. Now, after just two seasons, Skuta will look to find a new home in the NFL. Skuta had been in the way of rookie Myles Jack in terms of playing time. The Jaguars starting linebackers now project as Myles Jack on the strong side, Paul Posluszny in the middle, and Telvin Smith on the weak side. In terms of depth the Jaguars have Hays Pullard, Audie Cole, Josh McNary, Lerentee McCray and a couple others.
