It was widely believed that interim Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett would get the Jaguars OC job when it was released that he would stay with the team. However, on Thursday morning when the Jaguars introduced Tom Coughlin and Doug Marrone it was made clear that an Offensive Coordinator had not yet been chosen.
Kelly is now in Jacksonville and like Carlyon said in his tweet, Kelly is presumably interviewing for the Offensive Coordinator position. There is a ton to get into with this, but if Kelly does get the OC job, there are some things you should keep in mind. 1. Tom Coughlin, Doug Marrone, and Chip Kelly all have extremely strong personalities. This could lead to a too many cooks in the kitchen situation if Kelly is brought in. Not to mention the internal arguments that may arise. 2. Kelly did have success at the beginning of his NFL coaching career in Philly when he won 20 games in his first two seasons as the Eagles Head Coach. 3. Kelly likely won't be an Offensive Coordinator for long, if at all. Kelly likes to be in control and there is little doubt that he will jump to another head coaching job at the first opportunity that presents itself, whether it be college or the NFL. 4. His seemingly arrogant personality rubs many the wrong way, but might he be humbled being fired twice in as many seasons? ​Stay tuned for more.
