The NFL Network's annual Top 100 list, as voted on by the players, missed the mark with Calais Campbell this year. Yes, Campbell belongs on the list. But he should be significantly higher. Campbell is one of the 30 best players in the NFL bar none. He's the best run defender at the defensive end spot in the entire league. He finished 2018 with 72 tackles, twenty of which came behind the line of scrimmage. Campbell's pass rush prowess is underrated. He's dropped opposing quarterbacks 25 times in the last two seasons. He put up ten and a half sacks and 22 QB hits in 2018. He was the best player on the sixth-best defense in football last year. Being on the list at all gives the Jaguars some national recognition, which is always a good thing. But there are not 53 better players than Calais Campbell. The only other player likely to make the list from Jacksonville is Jalen Ramsey, who is widely considered one of the two best cornerbacks in the NFL.
