One of the Giants best defenders, Oliver Vernon, will not play in the week one matchup between the Jaguars and the G-Men. This according to Dan Duggan.
The Jaguars won't have to worry about the Giants top pass rusher - a former unrestricted free agent that, once upon a time, was pursued by the Jaguars - on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. He's been dealing with a high ankle sprain for several weeks and did not make enough progress to practice at all this week. Vernon sacked opposing QBs a combined 15 times for the Giants in '16 and '17. Rookie Lorenzo Carter, and veteran Connor Barwin will be tasked with being a productive pass rush duo against the stout Jaguars offensive line. |
